Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident left him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
